SURVIVAL II

Survival comes from the word meaning survive. Survival is trying to keep alive in the wild from natural obstacles before getting help (Yudiawan, 2002). Rimpala (1997) suggests survival is a condition where a person / group of people from a normal life (still as planned) either suddenly or unwittingly into a situation is not normal (outside the line of the plan).
People who perform so-called survival survivor. Survival is usually done
ie in the forest / wilderness so called jungle survival.


Survival is due to emergency conditions caused by nature , accidents , disorders or conditions of animals other .Rimpala (1997) , Rimpala (1998) and Rimpala (2002) states that each letter of the word survival is an abbreviation of the steps we have to remember to do that is:
                                               S          : Size up the situation
                                               U         : Undue haste makes waste
                                               R         : Remember where you are
                                               V         :Vanguish fear and panic
                                               I           : Improve
                                               V         : Value living
                                               A         : Act like the native
                                              L          : Learn basic skill

In general aspects of the condition of survival were divided into three mutually influencing and relating , which is a psychological aspect ( panic , fear , anxious, lonely , confused , depressed , bored ) , the physiological aspects ( pain , hunger , thirst , injury , fatigue ) and aspectsenvironment ( heat , cold , dry , rain ).


Principal components consist of survival:

a. Mental attitude of a strong heart to survive, giving priority to common healthy, lucid and optimistic
b. Physical condition who are fit and strong
c. The level of knowledge and skills
d. Experience and training
e. Supplies a survival kit. 2. Measures of survival
a. If you get lost you should take guidance STOP (Seating, Thinking, Observation, and Planning)
b. Perform the division of tasks to group members
c. Still trying to find help
d. Save on the use of food, beverage and labor
e. Avoid and stay away from issues that may arise is from yourself, others and nature.


Basic needs of survival



a. Water



Terms of the physical proper water to drink is colorless, tasteless and odorless. Water sources include springs, rivers, rain, dew, plants (cane, bananas, moss, roots hanging, bag semar), the condensation of water plants and soil excavation.



b. Food



When food sources are brought diminishing returns, we can use of natural food sources of flora (plants) and fauna (Animal). The edible parts of plants is the fruit, stems, leaves and roots (tubers). It should be noted in consuming plants: 



- Avoid brightly colored plants

- Avoid sticky white plants , except those already known edible

- Trying to taste a bit or applying to the skin .Usually the plants are harmful effects will cause itching , redness and heat in the body .

- Vary the food you eat to avoid the accumulation of substances may be bad for health

- Do not eat plants that dubious to eat.

Almost all poultry and fish can be used as a food source , as well as with several types of insects , reptiles and mammals .The main obstacle to get these wild animals is a way to catch it.Therefore need to make traps (traps ) to facilitate the capture of wild animals them.



c.Shelter




Shelter is a temporary shelter that can provide comfort and protection from the state of hot , cold , rain and wind .Shelter can use the existing natural such as caves, tree holes and cracks in the boulders .Moreover, it can be made of tents , ponchos or plastic and use of natural materials such as leaves or twigs .



d.fire



Fire is useful for lighting , improve morale psychological , cooking food and drink , warm up , drive out wild animals make sign / code , and smoking .Sources of ignition from a match , loop / binoculars ,

to rub wood with wood , banging with a metal or metal stone .


There are other things that determines the length of survival we are in condition , is the decision whether we will settle (survival static ) or moving out to seek help ( dynamic survival )
